Jewelry Designs
Jewelry can literally be anything that is made to adorn
or beautify the body. The appeal of jewelry is decided by the wearer,
and is not easily defined. Some of the earliest designs were based off
of natural and organic objects, and this remains a huge influence in
modern jewelry today. The biggest limitation to design is size, a piece
of jewelry has to be light enough and small enough to be carried around
and comfortable worn, however a lot of jewelry in the past was heavy
and bulky and used more to display wealth.
Some jewelry designs are functional as well as visually appealing.
One interesting example of very functional jewelry is the movie character
James Bond’s watch, which there have been a few different versions
of. In one movie his watch had a magnet powerful enough to divert the
path of a bullet, it also had a rotating bezel that doubled as a circular
saw. In another movie his watch shot tranquilizer darts. Function jewelry
that actually exists is often there for the same purpose as James Bonds
various watches, self defense.
These types of defensive jewelry designs often incorporate some hard
object that is very durable, yet also very beautiful. They are attached
to purses or onto the back of a hat and are used to whack things, whether
it’s an attacker or a cardboard box. Coupled with the length of
the purse or hat and the weight of the piece they can create a huge
amount of force. Jewelry designs will continue to evolve and change,
and it is very unlikely that the popularity if wearing jewelry will
ever vanish.
